The Judds, Naomi Judd and daughter, Wynonna, are one of the most popular country music duos of our time. The twosome called it quits in 1991 due to Naomi’s health. Wynonna began a successful solo career that earned her four number one hits and numerous awards. Rolling Stone called her “the greatest female country singer since Patsy Cline.” No matter how glittering Wynonna’s duet partners have been, none of them could match the spark produced when she sang with Naomi. Teaming up again, The Judds are set to embark on a reunion tour through the US called “The Last Encore”.
Starting with their 1984 chart topper “Mama, He’s Crazy,” the duo had fourteen number one hits ranging from the sassy tale of love gone wrong, “Have Mercy,” to the rural themes of family and home found in “Young Love.” The hits kept coming and so did the accolades. As country music's most famous mother/daughter team, their trophy cases carry the weight of over sixty industry awards, including five Grammys, nine CMA Awards and eight ACM Awards. The Judds have recorded more than seven studio albums—Wynonna & Naomi (1983); Why Not Me (1984); Rockin’ with the Rhythm (1985); Heartland (1987); River of Time (1989); Love Can Build a Bridge (1990); and Big Bang Boogie (2000) among them. Why Not me, Rockin’ with the Rhythm, and Heartland, along with their Greatest Hits album all charted No. 1 in the United States.
The Judds: The Last Encore tour will feature new Judds and Wynonna music from the upcoming album while also shining a bright light on all of the fan’s Judds and Wynonna favorites. And for the first time ever, they will also celebrate the holiday season during their final tour by weaving several classic Christmas songs in their immensely diverse set list.
